Indoor Meeting

Date & time: Tuesday, 1st April at 8pm.
Location: The Killiney Room, Graduate Bar, Rochestown Avenue.
Title: Managing a Breeding Wader Project.
Speaker: Jason Monaghan.
Details: Jason is an ecologist with the NPWS Agri-Ecology Unit.

Outdoor Meeting

Date & time to meet: Sunday, 6th April at 10am.
Outing to: Sonairte Eco-Centre.
Meeting place: Sonairte is located at The Ninch, Laytown, Meath, A92 D9XH. Meet in the Centre's car park at 10am. For a map showing the meeting place click HERE, the car park is at Flag 1 on the map.
Extra information: Sonairte is an environmental charity that runs the Eco-Centre. More information can be found on their website HERE.

Outdoor Meeting (Dawn Chorus)

Date & time to meet: Sunday, 11th May at 4am.
Outing to: Killiney Hill Park.
Extra information: Set your alarm clocks and meet in Killiney Hill car park at the top of Burmah Road off Dalkey Avenue at 04:00. Please be sure to dress warmley. Boat Trip

Date: Sunday, 18th May.
Where from/to: Howth to Dun Laoghaire.
Extra information: Boat departs Howth at 2:15pm, visiting Ireland's Eye, Lambay Island, Howth Cliffs, Baily Lighthouse and Dalkey Island, before arriving into Dun Loaghaire Harbour at 7pm. Participents MUST be fully paid-up members of BirdWatch Ireland. Despite the time of year, be sure to dress warmley. The price is €60 pp.

There are no branch events during the month of June.

General

The South Dublin branch holds indoor meetings each month from September to May and outdoor events in most months.

Bad Weather Protocol

If a Met Éireann Orange or Red warning is in force at the place where and when a branch outing is due to take place then members should assume the outing is cancelled.

Indoor Events

Our indoor events take place on the first or (very occasionally) second Tuesday of the month.
Unless otherwise stated, they begin at 8pm. Admission to indoor meetings is free, however we would be very grateful for any contribution made towards the cost of the meeting room.
Please note:
Beginning in September 2017 our meetings will be held in the Killiney Function Room of the Graduate Pub. The Graduate is adjacent to Killiney Shopping Centre, more details may be found on the Graduate's website HERE.


Outdoor Events

Outdoor events are available to all and with the exception of trips made by coach, are free of charge. As of 2023, coach outings generally cost about €40.00 per person or €30.00 for those 65 years of age or older and €20.00 for those 18 years of age or younger, however please note that prices are determind by the cost of hiring the coach, which is subject to periodic increases.
When taking part, wear clothing suitable for the time of year and location and although we often take in a visit to shops around lunch time it is wiser not to rely on that completely for food and drinks during the trip.
